See Exactly What Your Paternity Test Report Will Say

Before ordering a DNA test, many clients want to know exactly what their results will look like and how the conclusion will be written.

Below are examples of both possible outcomes of a paternity DNA test: inclusion and exclusion. These examples show the exact wording used in a final report so you know precisely what to expect.

Our reports are clear, professional, and easy to understand.

How to Read a Paternity DNA Test Report

A paternity DNA test compares genetic markers, also known as loci, between the child and the alleged father.

Each person inherits half of their DNA from their biological mother and half from their biological father. During analysis, 23 or more genetic markers are examined to determine whether the tested man can be included or excluded as the biological father.

Your report will include:

  • A table listing the genetic markers tested

  • The DNA profile for each tested individual

  • A Combined Paternity Index (CPI)

  • A Probability of Paternity percentage

  • A clearly written conclusion statement

All relationship DNA tests are performed twice in concurrent testing procedures to validate findings before results are released.

Example 1: Positive Result (Inclusion)

When the tested male shares the required number of genetic markers with the child, the conclusion will state:

Inclusion = When the conclusion states, “cannot be excluded as the biological father” this means the tested male most likely IS, with 99.999999% certainly, the biological father of the child, as all data gathered from the test supports a relationship of paternity.

What This Means

A Probability of Paternity of 99.99% or higher supports the conclusion that the tested male cannot be excluded as the biological father.

This is considered a conclusive (positive) result.

Example 2: Negative Result (Exclusion)

If the tested male does not share sufficient genetic markers with the child, the conclusion will state:

Exclusion = When the conclusion states, “is excluded as the biological father” this means the tested male IS NOT the biological father of the child, as all data gathered from the test does not support a relationship of paternity.

What This Means

An exclusion result will show a Probability of Paternity of 0%.

This means the tested male is conclusively not the biological father.

Why Our Paternity Test Results Are Reliable

At the core of everything we do is one simple principle: accurate answers matter.

Our laboratory partners:

  • Analyze millions of DNA samples each year

  • Use validated scientific testing methods

  • Follow strict quality control procedures

  • Perform relationship tests twice to confirm accuracy

  • Maintain high-level laboratory accreditations

This ensures that every paternity test report is scientifically sound, clearly written, and reliable.

Home vs Legal Paternity Test Results

The scientific analysis is the same for home and legal paternity testing.

The difference is in the collection process:

  • Home paternity tests are for personal knowledge

  • Legal paternity tests follow strict chain-of-custody procedures and may be used in court
